Llandudno man jailed for distributing “disgusting images” of children

A PERVERT who watched “disgusting images” of children being abused has been locked up for 32 months.

Derek Morgan, 47, watched a live broadcast of a young girl being abused by her parents on the internet, a judge at Caernarfon Crown Court heard.

He had posed online as a female midwife and distributed images and video clips of children being abused among contacts he had made on the internet.

Jailing him the judge, Mr Recorder John Philpotts, said: “What makes this even worse is that you distributed disgusting images of the most serious kind contemplated by law.”

Nicholas Williams, prosecuting said Morgan, of Attlee Close, Llandudno, pleaded guilty to 18 counts of making indecent images and films of children.

He said more than 2,100 images and video clips were found on two computers seized by police at his home last July. These images, ranging from levels two to the most serious level five, were downloaded between 2008 and 2011.

“He distributed more than 125 images and video clips using nine different e-mail addresses he had set up.

“He had created for himself a false identity while online portraying himself as a female midwife who would abuse children while at work.

“One unfortunate result of this was that his partner at the time was also arrested. After inquiries were made she was subsequently released without charge,” said Mr Williams.

The barrister added during his interview Morgan admitted watching the web broadcast of a young girl being abused. It emerged he had been in contact with her parents online.

Henry Hills, defending, said: “He knows he has done wrong and he is genuinely remorseful. He is ready to face the consequences of his actions.”

Mr Hills added Morgan had made no financial gain from his offending.

In addition to the prison sentence Morgan must sign the sex register for life and be the subject of a Sexual Offences Prevention Order. Computer equipment will be forfeited and destroyed.
