Febuary 2012 - Paige Chivers: Police committed to finding killer
When 15 year old Paige Chivers disappeared five years ago, her friends and family hoped she would return home safe welcomed by those who loved her, but her disappearance has now been declared a murder investigation.
Police in Lancashire have said they are committed to finding the killer of a missing teenager.
Paige Chivers, from Bispham, Blackpool, disappeared in August 2007 at the age of 15 after a row at her family home.
Police said there had been no confirmed sightings of her since or proof that she was still alive.
Police suspect she may of been groomed for sex and believe she may have been murdered, but her body has never been found. There are parallels between the case of Paige Chivers and Charlene Downes.
Paige has a tattoo of a Playboy bunny on her neck with “Playgirl” written under it. There is a £2,000 reward for information leading to her whereabouts.
Paige’s last movements are still unclear but she is thought to have boarded a number 11 bus from a bus stop on Ashfield Road, Blackpool.
The youngster is 5ft 5in (1.65m) and slim, with shoulder length light brown hair. She often wears gold hoop earrings and has two small sovereign rings.
Det Supt Dermott Horrigan, who is leading the investigation, said they had “exhausted potential leads” for Paige, who would now be 20.
He said: “We remain committed to finding out the truth about what has happened to Paige.”
He said it was never too late for people to come forward with new information.
Paige was due to inherit a substantial amount of money on her 18th birthday following the death of her mother, police said.
Four people have previously been arrested on suspicion of Paige’s murder but all have been released without charge
